Geneva has been consistently voted one of the best places to live in the world in terms of quality of life. Nestled next to Lake Geneva or Lake Leman as it is known locally, Geneva has access to some of the best skiing areas in the world only 1 hour away.
 
In summer, there are fantastic hiking, mountain biking, paragliding and adventure activities available in the nearby Jura and French and Swiss Alps whilst the lake is ideal for windsurfing, wakeboarding and sailing. Within an hour you can visit the lovely towns of Lausanne, Montreux and Annecy and the transport system is fast, clean and punctual.

There are many well paid international workers in the area on long term contracts who are looking to rent apartments and the rental market is very strong.
 
Owing to the scarcity of property to buy in the city, many people look outside towards neighbouring France and the more reasonably priced areas towards the north and the east.
 
Ferney Voltaire and the area towards the north of Geneva
Ferney is on the border of Switzerland and Geneva next to Geneva airport. It is a pretty village with good services and a direct 20 minute bus link to Geneva centre. It is close to the Jura mountain region with its ski resorts and hiking areas and the lovely town of Divonne. As it is towards the north of the city it is close to CERN and the international quarter and therefore appeals to many renters. Prices are considerably cheaper here than central Geneva and provide an excellent investment buy to let opportunity.
